Boys in grades 1 and 2 play a non-contact, highly instructional version of lacrosse. Boys learn very basic lacrosse terminology and fundamentals. These skills are the foundation for a solid "Lacrosse IQ". Games feature five-on-five situations with a lot of action and directed by the coaches on the field.
Registration Fee: $90.00
Equipment: Players must provide their own lacrosse stick, mouth guard, and cleats (soccer or football - no metal spikes). WYB will lend players a helmet and pair of gloves - this equipment must be returned at the end of the season. Cups are not required but are strongly recommended. No other lacrosse equipment is worn in Division 3.
Players must purchase a reversible team jersey with a number to wear at all practices and games. Players will keep their jersey at the end of the season and can be used again in future seasons.
Team Selection: Every attempt will be made to keep players from the same elementary school on the same team, but we will also make every attempt to make the teams as equal as possible in terms of player size and skill level. The number of teams in the Division will depend on enrollment.
Practices: Practices begin in mid-March (weather permitting), and the season runs through May. Teams will practice up to three times per week. The specific practice schedule and practice location for each team is determined by the head coach.
Games: In 2018 all games will be played on Sunday afternoons at the Thomas Worthington High School varsity field.
